Did You Know?
The first method of photography was called the Daguerreotype (a process where an image is projected onto a polished silver plate), and was invented in France by Joseph Nicephore Niepce before 1834 and was introduced in 1839 by Loius-Jacques-Mande Daguerre, who recognized the potential of the process. Daguerreotype images became hugely popular, and by 1850 there were over seventy dageurrerotype studios in New York City alone. The photographic negative/positive process was invented by William Henry Fox Talbot in 1834 in England, and to this day some Britons claim photography is an English invention.
